Northgate Resorts Brings Its Elevated Camping Brand to Bucolic New York
Barryville, NY—June 22, 2022–Northgate Resorts has announced it will transform Kittatinny’s Campground in Barryville, New York, into an elevated camping experience when its new brand, Camp Fimfo, opens its doors next summer in the Catskills. The new camping resort, featuring a collection of cabins, full-hookup RV sites and tent sites, will make its home in Barryville, New York, along the banks of the Delaware River less than three hours from New York City and Philadelphia.
Camp Fimfo debuted last summer in New Braunfels, Texas, and is opening a second location next month in nearby Waco. The Catskills location will be the award-winning brand’s first locale outside of the Lone Star State with plans to continue expanding nationwide.

Camp Fimfo Catskills spans 250 acres and will feature a collection of new riverfront, treetop and A-frame cabins coupled with premium RV sites and Airstream trailers plus glamping tents and pods. Some existing cabins, tents and RV sites will be refurbished resulting in a total of 240 cabins, 40 tent sites and nearly 60 RV sites.
The amenity-rich and turnkey experience includes a heated swimming pool lined with cabanas and renovated bathhouses plus a water playground, hot tubs, mini golf, an Alpine coaster, jumping pillow and sports courts. In addition to these new attractions and amenities, Camp Fimfo will continue to offer Kittatinny’s on-site adventures such as rafting, kayaking, tubing, canoeing and ziplining. Riverfront dining will also be available at the recently acquired Cedar Rapids Bar & Restaurant, which is slated to undergo a top-to-bottom renovation next year.
The Camp Fimfo experience is reminiscent of summer camp and family road trips harkening back to a simpler time in travel. Modern-day conveniences and Instagrammable moments help define the overall experience with whimsical messaging splashed throughout the boutique campground.
Camp Fimfo was at the forefront as the demand for outdoor travel and experiences began to shift. According to a 2022 North American Camping Report, more than 93.8 million American households considered themselves campers with camping accounting for 40% of all leisure trips taken in 2021. Furthermore, the study shows RVing is at an all-time high with 11-million recreational vehicle owners camping last year and two-million new RV renters. The study also revealed an emerging trend showing urban residents as one of the most avid camping segments, which bodes well for Camp Fimfo Catskills and its close proximity to both New York City and Philadelphia.
The new property, opening in the summer of 2023, is located along the banks of the Delaware River in New York’s Catskill Mountains, just 30 minutes south of where the legendary Woodstock Music & Art Fair was held in 1969 and less than three hours from New York City and Philadelphia.
